On 23 June, Teun van Dongen was interviewed by the Social Stability Unit of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment (Expertise-unit Sociale Stabiliteit) about the future of radicalisation and its prevention. Teun discusses the trend of social dissatisfaction and highlights that strong anti-government sentiments and conspiracy theories are inextricably linked to this current social discontent, leading to a continuous stream of threats and violent incidents. He emphasises the danger of people potentially turning away from the government, which can lead to more group radicalisation. Especially the extreme right movements respond to the existing broad social dissatisfaction and are, in a sense, more accepted and tolerated. In addition, Teun discusses the threat of jihadism, which has certainly not disappeared but decreased compared to 2015.
