ICCT Director Mark Singleton at CEP Conference

ICCT Director Mark Singleton presented at a conference hosted by the Confederation of European Probation (CEP), which took place from 25 - 27 November 2015 at the premises of the Dutch Ministry of Security and Justice in The Hague.

The conference brought together Directors-General of Prison and Probation Services from all over Europe to discuss topics such as EU framework decisions, foreign national prisoners, radicalisation, desistance, transforming of probation services in England and Wales, and handling the media.

In his presentation, Mark Singleton discussed the challenge of understanding and addressing the phenomenon of radicalisation, especially focusing on issues related to radical prison populations. He concluded by giving several policy recommendations for identifying radical inmates, as well as better implementing rehabilitation and reintegration programmes in prisons.
