On Tuesday, July 22nd, the Dutch TV Programme, Een Vandaag, the featured a piece on the trial of a Swedish national, neo-nazi and member of the far right organisation The Base, who had planned an attack on the 2020 Eurovision Song Festival, which was meant to be held in Rotterdam.
As part of the segment, the programme interviewed Bibi van Ginkel, Bibi van Ginkel, Senior Research Fellow and Programme Lead at ICCT.
Van Ginkel told Een Vandaag that she finds it truly peculiar that the plans have only been made public now. ''In a sense, some escaped a major attack, so it's very strange that this is only being made public now,'' she states, ''Especially since there are cross-border aspects to this case, we would ordinarily expect to see immediate contact with foreign colleagues.''
