On Tuesday, July 22nd. the Dutch TV Programme, EditieNL, the featured a piece on the trial of a Swedish national, neo-nazi and member of the far right organisation The Base who had planned an attack on the 2020 Eurovision Song Festival which was meant to be held in Rotterdam.
As part of the segment, the programme interviewed Bibi van Ginkel, Bibi van Ginkel, Senior Research Fellow and Programme Lead at ICCT.
Van Ginkel told EditieNL that she finds it abhorrent that the plans of this then seventeen-year-old suspect are only now coming to light. ''Incomprehensible, truly incomprehensible'' she declares, further stating ''especially because we now know that this Swedish suspect is a supporter of the organisation The Base'' who have been on the EU Terrorist List since last year.
