On 3 February 2017, ICCT Associate Fellow J.M. Berger comments in The Washington Post on the current US administration's re-branding of the countering violent extremism programme to countering Islamic extremism only. J.M. Berger argues that this allows the US government to specifically target "radical Islamic terror", symbolically ignoring or even accepting the increasing presence of white nationalism in the US.
