On 2 January 2018 ICCT Associate Fellow Dr. Colin P. Clarke co-wrote an article with Philip Smyth titled "Where is Assad Getting His Fighters From? (It's not just Lebanon and Iraq)". The article, published in The National Interest, explores the origin of foreign fighters that have joined Bashar al-Assad's defense against insurgents.
