“People are still fighting.” (Lack of) Change for the Foreign Fighters for Ukraine

The project, entitled “Anti-Dox: Identifying, Evaluating and Countering Disinformation in Times of War”, is supported by the European Media and Information Fund - managed by the Calouste Gulbenkian foundation. This project is looking at pro-Russian doxing practices against pro-Ukraine foreign individuals based in Ukraine and abroad.

This report picks up where one of the authors’ earlier work left off and attempts to take stock of the foreign fighting phenomenon in and for Ukraine as of early 2025. It will evolve around one central theme discussing change, or lack thereof, in the reality on the ground for the foreign fighters in Ukraine. It will discuss whether change happened in relation to a string of issues ranging from the more organisational or strategic to seemingly petty ones related to pay or contracts.
