Julian Lanchès is a Junior Research Fellow for the Current and Emerging Threats Programme at the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism. He specialises in extremist and terrorist online activity, as well as the operational behaviour of terrorist actors.
At ICCT, Julian has contributed to projects on Russian state-sponsored terrorism, the nexus between terrorism and migration, and several projects on digital threats, including borderline content on social media, jihadist propaganda, and doxxing in extremist contexts. His research has been featured in leading outlets, including The Washington Post, Politico, and the Wall Street Journal, as well as United24 Media and Rzeczpospolita.
Before joining ICCT, he conducted research on pro-Kremlin disinformation strategies and online hate campaigns at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD). Julian holds an MA in Terrorism, Security and Society from King’s College London and an MSc in Crisis and Security Management from Leiden University.
