The Hague, 19 August 2024: Europol has appointed Dr. Thomas Renard, Director of the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT), as a member of the steering committee of the European Counter-Terrorism Centre (ECTC) Advisory Network on terrorism and propaganda.
The main task of the steering committee is to initiate and coordinate the activities of the ECTC Advisory Network, including the organisation of the ECTC Advisory Network annual conference. In addition, the steering committee may be asked to advise the ECTC on matters of knowledge transfer from academia to law enforcement.
On his appointment, Dr. Renard said: “Europol is a major actor in countering terrorism at the European level. I am very proud to cooperate with such prestigious institution, notably to ensure fruitful exchanges and mutual learnings between research and law enforcement communities.”
Founded in 2010, ICCT is an independent think-and-do tank dedicated to shaping effective and evidence-based policies against terrorism and violent extremism, grounded in human rights and the rule of law. It is based in The Hague, Netherlands.
