Dr. Brian J. Phillips is a Reader (Associate Professor) in the Department of Government at the University of Essex. He is a co-author of Insurgent Terrorism: Intergroup Relationships and the Killing of Civilians (Oxford University Press, 2022). His research interests include terrorism, civil conflict, and crime. In recent years, he has published a series of papers on terrorist designation, and he is currently working on a co-authored book manuscript on the topic.
