The International Centre for Counter-Terrorism – The Hague (ICCT) invites you to attend a seminar on Thursday 24 October by Visiting Fellow Dr. Graham Macklin. The seminar will be followed by a Q&A session and drinks.
RIGHT WING EXTREMISM: CURRENT THREATS AND EMERGING TRENDS
Location: Wijnhaven – Universiteit Leiden Thursday 24 October 16:00 – 17:30
In this seminar, Dr. Graham Macklin (Centre for Research on Extremism, University of Oslo) will discuss current threats and emerging trends within the extreme right. How has the extreme-right developed ideologically and strategically in recent years? How should we make sense of the differences between what is ‘radical right’ and ‘extreme right’? The talk explores two particular trends within the extreme right in particular; the growing salience of ‘meta politics’ – the idea that cultural struggle is a prerequisite for political success – and the increasing use of terrorism by some sections of the right-wing extremist movement.
