Upcoming ICCT events

In the upcoming months, ICCT is organising three events. In November, we will hold two seminars: respectively on Countering Violent Extremism and Lone Wolf Terrorism. In December the International Launch Conference will take place.

On 3 November, the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism – The Hague will organise a closed-session seminar on the topic of “Counter-Terrorism, Communication and Non-State Actors”, prior to the 3rd Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Workshop hosted by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. ICCT’s Research Fellow Dr. Beatrice de Graaf and several field experts will look into the issue of communication and framing in countering violent extremist ideologies, with special focus on the role of non-governmental actors.

On 5 November, the ICCT will hosts an Expert Meeting on “Lone Wolves: How to Prevent This Seemingly New Phenomenon?” from 10:00 – 16:45 in The Hague. Leading international experts will discuss the rise of the lone wolf terrorist and analyse the challenges governments, police and intelligence agencies face in dealing with this threat.

12-13 December will mark our official “International Launch Conference”. In the field of counter-terrorism, the year 2011 will likely be regarded as a memorable landmark, surely featuring a number of ‘ten-years-after’-events that will look back at a decade of fighting terrorism. In preparation of that year of commemoration and review, ICCT will, at its official International Launch Conference, assemble distinguished international actors in the domain of counter-terrorism to prepare for the year to come; to discuss those relevant issues and questions that will certainly arise and to contemplate the effects and results of implemented policy and measures as we will be looking back at ten years of intensified counter-terrorism efforts.
