ICCT in the Media: Teun van Dongen on 2011 Norway Attacks and Far-Right Terrorism
On 19 June, Teun van Dongen was interviewed by the French newspaper La Croix following a memorial hosted in honour of the victims of the 2011 Norway attacks. Teun discussed the evolution of far-right terrorism in Europe in the years following the attacks and how the typical lone wolf gunman ‘Breivik model’ has been the most frequently used by right-wing terrorists. Teun also discussed Breivik’s manifesto and highlighted the role of YouTube in propagating such extremist ideas, stating that radicalisation takes place almost exclusively online.
