ICCT project mentioned in UN Security Council report on ISIL

In the seventh report of the Secretary-General to the UN Security Council on the threat posed by ISIL, a project of ICCT is mentioned. The report¬†discusses, among other things, international judicial cooperation. On this subject, it requires the Member States to strengthen their collection, handling and sharing of information and evidence. In cooperation with working groups and Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate, ICCT is developing UN Guidelines on the role of the military in collecting evidence. These guidelines will include “recommendations on ways to ensure that evidence collected by the military is admissible in court, including by ensuring chain of custody and full compliance with international humanitarian law and human rights law”.
