ICCT in the Media: Thomas Renard on the Failures of Belgian Intelligence Services

On 09 June, ICCT Director Thomas Renard was interviewed for RTBF, the Belgian public radio/TV, about the Belgian intelligence and security system and the 2021 Report of the Committee on Intelligence and Security Services (Committee R) presented on 08 June in the Belgian Chamber. Thomas commented on the structural problems in the Belgian intelligence service, which the Committee R have reported since 2001, the lack of specific training for the intelligence officers in Belgium and the need for reinforcement of resources and staff in both the Belgian Intelligence Service (VSSE) and the military General Intelligence and Security Service (SGRS).
