In a recent interview with Bob Garfield on WNYC's show On the Media, ICCT Associate Fellow Charlie Winter discusses newly published figures concerning IS propaganda and recruitment reductions. Attributing these changes to significant losses in territory, the cyber war, and the killing of key IS figures through targeted strikes, Winter also anticipates increased retaliation from the group. Touching on the 2016 U.S. presidential election, the interview also addresses the significance of a Trump absence in official IS propaganda.
