Announcement: Official Opening ICCT
During a conference in the Peace Palace on the 31st of May, 2010, the Dutch Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Maxime Verhagen will officially open the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT) – The Hague. The centre is a result of an initiative originating in the Dutch parliament (motion Çörüz, April 2008) and will, in its nascent years, receive financial support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
ICCT will be supported by the collective efforts of three, Hague based, authoritative institutions active in the fields of international law and security, namely the T.M.C. Asser Instituut, the Institute for International Relations Clingendael and the Centre for Terrorism and Counterterrorism of Campus The Hague / Leiden University.
Connecting Experts, Policymakers and Practitioners
ICCT is a knowledge centre that focuses on information creation, collation and dissemination pertaining to the preventative and international legal aspects of counter-terrorism. Issue such as de- and counter-radicalisation, human rights, impunity, the rule of law and communication in relation to counter-terrorism are at the core of the ICCT’s work. By connecting the knowledge of experts to the issues that policymakers are confronted with, ICCT can contribute to the strengthening of both research and policy. Consequently, avenues to new and innovative solutions will be identified, which will reinforce both human rights and security.
