ICCT is conducting an effect and process evaluation for the Municipality of The Hague and the Municipality of Zoetermeer. As part of these municipalities’ efforts to increase resilience and prevent polarisation and radicalisation, they have commissioned the organisation Trias Pedagogica to deliver parenting support programmes for fathers and mothers. This programme aims to provide parents with knowledge on alienation and radicalisation, communication and parenting skills, and a network of parents on which they can rely for further support. Special attention is given to the involvement of fathers in their children’s upbringing. The programme consists of a series of seven sessions and a follow-up session after several weeks.
The aim of the effect evaluation is to investigate whether the programme has been effective in achieving the predetermined goals and which elements are conducive or not conducive to this. The aim of the process evaluation is to assess the implementation of the activities, including the participant recruitment process and their level of satisfaction.
The evaluation uses a mixed methods approach, employing both qualitative and quantitative research methods. This includes document analysis, questionnaires, a focus group, observations, and in-depth interviews with participants. The results of the evaluation will be documented in a report and two-pager, and shared with the stakeholders at a mid-term and final presentation to generate awareness of the outcomes, and discuss good practices, lessons learned and ways forward.
