Sophia Fehrenbach

Sophia Fehrenbach joined ICCT as the PCVE intern in October 2022. She supports the PCVE team in ongoing projects on a wide array of topics including Foreign Terrorist Fighters, (child) returnees, and the vulnerabilities of children growing up in Violent Extremist environments. Sophia holds a Bachelor of Honors in International Relations and International Organization from the University of Groningen and studied a Master of Public Administration at Central European University.

Prior to joining ICCT, Sophia worked on a number of research projects including the Horizon-2020 funded “Counterterrorism and Safeguarding in response to Islamic State” project which studied European responses to child returnees. She further gained experiences as a trainee at the European External Action Service, Sueddeutsche Zeitung and the Austrian Institute for International Affairs.
