Rahma Ramadhan is a lawyer and researcher focusing on issues of security governance. Over the past seven years, she has conducted complex research initiatives and programs within challenging environments, collaborating with both international and national organizations on critical issues related to counter-terrorism and preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE), as well as on policing and security. Rahma has led multidisciplinary teams focused on development cooperation and policy formulation across Kenya. She has provided policy advice to development partners, government agencies, and regional and international human rights mechanisms on security issues throughout East Africa. Currently, Rahma is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Human Rights and Policy Studies (CHRIPS), a Nairobi-based think tank, where she leads research and programming on P/CVE in Kenya. She has published extensively on topics such as terrorism, P/CVE, and accountability, and has pioneered research studies on the role and accountability of private security in countering violent extremism in Kenya.
