Mr. Idriss Mounir Lalalli is the Deputy-Director of the African Centre for the Study and Research on Terrorism (ACSRT), since 2017 and also its Acting Director since April 2020. Mr. Lallali is also Head of the Alert and Prevention Unit of the African Union. In this capacity, he leads a team of ACSRT experts that assesses the counter-terrorism capacity of African Union Member States and provides assistance in developing national and regional strategies to counter-terrorism and prevent violent extremism.

Mr. Lallali is Editor in Chief of the African Journal for the Prevention and Combating of Terrorism, the AU Africa Terrorism Situation Analysis Report and the Joint ACSRT-NATO Sahel Terrorism Analysis Report. He has represented the ACSRT in various high-level meetings and briefed the UN at various levels, the African Union Peace and Security Council, the Global CT Forum, the NATO, the European Union, and the African Heads of Security and Intelligence Services.

Mr. Lallali is member of the High-Level Working Group on Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking between the Federal Drug Control Services of Russia and the African Union Commission; guest Lecturer on Counterterrorism at the National Defense College of Nigeria (NDC) and on Conflict Management at the National Higher Institute of Political Science of Algiers (ENSSP); Member of the Academic Advisory Board of the Faculty of Political Science at the University of the Free State, South Africa.

Previously, Mr. Lallali acted as Counterterrorism and Transnational Organized Crime Advisor to H.E. the late President Pierre Buyoya, AU High-Level Special Representative and Head of the African-led International Support Mission to Mali (AFISMA); and Member of the Mediation Team in the Niger Crisis led by former President Abubakar Abdulsalami. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Security Management from the Cranfield University (Royal Military College of Science: RMCS) in the United Kingdom; an MBA in International Business from Regent’s College in London; an MA in Security Management from Webster University in the United States of America; and a BSc of Finance from the University of Algiers.
