Erik Akerboom

Mr Erik Akerboom is Director General of the AIVD, the General Intelligence and Security Service of the Netherlands since May 2020. Before that, Mr Akerboom has been chief of police of the National Police since 2016. Previously, he was Secretary General at the Ministry of Defense and National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security at the then Ministry of Security and Justice. Between 1998 and 2003 he was director of Democratic Legal Order at the AIVD.
