Clarisa Nelu

Clarisa joined the ICCT in December 2023. She received a BA in International Relations in 2021 from the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, writing her thesis on how the Security Council should enlarge by including Germany and Brazil as permanent member states. She is currently pursuing a MA in International Security Studies at the University of Trento, Italy, writing her thesis about the causes and consequences of the persistent of the ’ideal victim’ in human trafficking focusing on Romania as a case study.

She carried out an internship at CeSPI, in the field of Human Rights. She was involved in the activity of the Observatory on Human Rights, conducting research on topics such as the connection between human rights and AI, new technology, and the human security nexus. She focused on a project concerning the progress of artificial intelligence in the last years, especially the last developments of the new AI Act developed by the European Commission and the use of AI in development cooperation. She is interested in the new concerns regarding global security such as terrorism, trafficking in human beings, migration, violation of human rights and new technologies. In her spare time, she likes traveling, photography and swimming.
