Annelies Pauwels

Annelies Pauwels is a Senior Researcher at the Flemish Peace Institute in Brussels, an independent research institute linked to the Flemish Parliament. Her work focuses on violent radicalisation and violence prevention. Previously, Annelies held research roles at various international organisations, including the EU Institute for Security Studies in Paris. Her research has covered a range of topics, including preventing and countering violent radicalisation, EU counter-terrorism cooperation, and the acquisition and use of small arms by terrorist groups. Annelies holds an LLM in international criminal law and an MSc in intercultural mediation, specialising in Arabic and Russian.
