Adejoké Babington-Ashaye

Adejoké Babington-Ashaye, a legal practitioner, specializes in international law, with a focus on accountability for core international crimes and sexual and gender-based violence within the context of terrorism. She is renowned for her expertise in delivering technical and capacity-building training to national criminal justice authorities on investigating and prosecuting conflict-related sexual violence and terrorism-related crimes. As an International Consultant to UN CTED, she researched and prepared the study "Towards Meaningful Accountability for Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in Terrorist Contexts." Additionally, she has contributed her legal expertise to UNODC, The Wayamo Foundation, and the UN Team of Experts as a resource person and to the UNODC Modules on Gender Dimensions of Criminal and Counter-terrorism in the International Law Context. A former investigator at the International Criminal Court, she is the  co-editor of the book "International Criminal Investigations: Law and Practice" (2018). As a Senior Research Fellow at The Soufan Center and Associate Fellow at the ICCT, Adejoké concentrates on the rule of law responses to terrorism. She holds a Doctor of International Affairs from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
