From 20-22 January 2015, ICCT in cooperation with UN Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) and Human Security Collective (HSC) organised a National Workshop on the effective implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolutions 1624 (2005) and 2178 (2014) in Mombasa, Kenya.
Workshop Goals & Activities
Government representatives of various ministries, as well as county representatives and local civil society representatives participated in the workshop discussing issues related to counter-terrorism and countering violent extremism that are relevant for Kenya. Special focus was on the topics of education, reintegration and rehabilitation of former fighters, community engagement, the role of the media, and the role of women leaders. The working group participants worked jointly to identify common goals and avenues for further action planning.
