Recently, Yle published an article about the political and security debate in Finland and Europe over whether the far left poses a serious terrorism or public security threat compared with the far right. Dr. Thomas Renard, Director of the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT), was interviewed by the Finnish broadcaster on the topic.
According to Dr. Renard, “[s]security services say something is simmering beneath the surface. For example, the war in Gaza has mobilised many people. But at the moment, there is nothing observable that would justify considering far-left activism a particular security threat.”
