On Friday June 27th, the Dutch Newspaper de Volkskrant published an article on Al Sharaa's ability to handle the resurgence of IS in Syria. The newspaper cited Tanya Mehra, Senior Research Fellow and Programme Lead of the Rule of Law Responses to Terrorism.
She highlighted the consequences of the quiet withdrawal of US troops from Syria since April. ''IS thrives on unrest and chaos. You see that happening now in Syria.'', she said.
