On Thursday, March 27th, the Atlantische Commissie published an article written by Tanya Mehra, Senior Research Fellow and Programme Lead at ICCT.
She explored the challenges experienced by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in governing a fragmented Syria and preventing an ISIS resurgence. The main threat is represented by the 2500 ISIS fighters still active between Syria and Iraq, thus making the efforts of an international coalition fundamental to keep the risk under control. Furthermore, as highlighted by Mehra, the international community must continue its counter-terrorism efforts.
