On Sunday 22nd of October 2023, Thomas Renard was interviewed by Sveriges Radio, Sweden's national publicly funded radio broadcaster.
"We live in an era where there is a sort of permanent threat from terrorists", he commented. Concerning the threat level of terrorism, he said: "They benefit from certain safe heavens in Syria, Afghanistan, West Africa, from where they can train, organise, plan operations". So, he concluded, "it was just a matter of time".
