On 14 August 2017, ICCT Associate Fellow J.M. Berger published an article in The Atlantic discussing possible scenarios for the Alt-Right movement following the ramming attack in Charlottesville, Virginia, which killed Heather Heyer and injured 19 others. This weekend, the Alt-Right is scheduled to hold protests across at least nine U.S. cities. J.M. Berger argues that "these events will provide an important barometer for the future of this movement, depending on how many people turn out, who those people are, and how they conduct themselves". He then provides several scenarios of possible outcomes that may follow the protests this weekend.
